Pep says Haaland is the Best Striker in the World

“I am not agreeing with him. It’s like I said: ‘He’s a manager for the second or third league – I don’t think so.’ He’s the best striker in the world and helped us to win what we won last season, and the reason why we don’t create many chances is not because of Erling. We played an exceptional game against Arsenal.

“I reviewed it – we just missed more people in the final third, maybe for the quality and different skills we have. I am surprised it [the criticism] has come from former players. From journalists I understand, because they have never been on the pitch.” (Guardian)

Has Pep Guardiola just called Roy Keane a second or third rate manager?

Love it.

That’s about right.

Great player. Shit manager.

As for Haaland – Pep is right. He is still the best striker in the world.

When you also play for the Best Team in the World you are going to face the kind of marking and the cutting-off of supply lines that can nullify you. That doesn’t make you any less a player.

People who don’t see that – even the great one-time player Roy Keane – do not have the complex mindset of a top manager.
